The Role: As a Quality Assurance Specialist (Gameplay Flow), you will be responsible for testing the gameplay flow of our Minecraft network. Your insights and feedback will be crucial in refining the player experience, ensuring seamless progression and an enjoyable journey through all our game modes.

What Will You Do?

  • Play through game modes to test and evaluate the gameplay.
  • Identify and document areas of improvement in gameplay progression and unclarities.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the team on issues affecting gameplay flow, including pacing, balance, and overall player experience.
  • Work closely with producers and developers to offer solutions for enhancing the gameplay experience.
  • Ensure that the game provides an intuitive and engaging experience from start to finish.

What Are We Looking For in You?

  • A strong understanding of what makes a game enjoyable and how different elements interact to create a smooth player experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate gameplay issues and suggest improvements.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Passion for Minecraft and a deep interest in game design.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently while being an effective team player.
  • Reside within the CET timezone (±6h).

  • Introduction to Gameplay Modes: Spend time exploring and familiarizing yourself with all existing game modes and the overall gameplay experience.
  • Training and Documentation: Read onboarding materials, game design documents, and gameplay testing guidelines to understand the standards expected for QA.
  • Initial Evaluation: Begin evaluating specific game modes under supervision, focusing on the basic gameplay flow and identifying unclarities or areas for improvement.
  • Learning Reporting Tools: Get comfortable with bug tracking and feedback reporting tools, ensuring that feedback is clearly documented for developers and other team members.

Month 2: Independent Gameplay Testing and Collaboration

  • Independent Gameplay Flow Analysis: Take on independent testing responsibilities, evaluating gameplay flow, progression, and pacing for different game modes.
  • Identify Areas for Improvement: Proactively identify areas where the gameplay progression can be improved, including balance issues or confusing player interactions, and document these findings.
  • Provide Feedback: Regularly provide feedback to developers and producers, communicating clearly and constructively regarding the issues identified and potential areas of improvement.
  • Work Closely with Development Team: Begin to actively participate in team discussions to propose solutions for gameplay issues and collaborate with producers to refine the overall experience.
  • Cross-Functional Testing: Coordinate with other QA specialists to ensure that the gameplay flow integrates seamlessly with stability, performance, and other technical aspects of the game.

Month 4: Advanced Testing and Gameplay Optimization

  • Testing Major New Projects: Take ownership of testing new gameplay modes or significant updates, providing thorough feedback on the player experience, including enjoyment, pacing, and overall engagement.
  • Design and Gameplay Improvements: Collaborate closely with producers to enhance gameplay mechanics, suggesting design changes to improve the intuitive and engaging nature of the game.
  • Holistic Player Experience Evaluation: Evaluate the game holistically, ensuring that all elements from tutorials to advanced features are intuitive and add to the player's journey, focusing on player immersion and seamless progression.
  • Optimization of Testing Processes: Contribute to refining and optimizing the gameplay testing processes, documenting effective strategies for identifying flow issues and improving testing efficiency.
