The Role: As a Quality Assurance Specialist (Bugs), your main responsibility will be testing our Minecraft network for bugs and issues. You will play a key role in ensuring the stability and reliability of our servers and features before they are released to our community of players.

What Will You Do?

  • Test different aspects of gameplay to identify bugs and issues.
  • Document the problems and how to reproduce them.
  • Work closely with the development team to communicate issues and help in their resolution.
  • Collaborate with other specialists to ensure a smooth multiplayer experience.
  • Verify fixes and updates to ensure no new bugs have been introduced.
  • Contribute ideas to improve the stability and overall quality of our game modes.

What Are We Looking For in You?

  • Strong attention to detail and a love for finding and solving issues.
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to work independently, taking initiative to explore different parts of the game.
  • Passion for Minecraft and a desire to contribute to a better gaming experience.
  • Reside within the CET timezone (±6h).

Month 1: Onboarding and Learning the Basics

  • Introduction to Systems and Tools: Get acquainted with the tools and systems used for testing and bug tracking.
  • Understanding the Game Modes: Spend time playing and exploring different game modes on our Minecraft network to understand the gameplay flow and features.
  • Training and Documentation: Read onboarding documents, QA guidelines, and become familiar with the standards used for bug reporting and testing.
  • First Bug Reports: Start testing minor areas of the game and documenting bugs under supervision, focusing on learning how to identify, reproduce, and clearly communicate issues.

Month 2: Independent Testing and Collaboration

  • Independent Bug Identification: Conduct independent tests of different aspects of gameplay, identifying bugs and documenting them thoroughly, including reproduction steps.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with developers to discuss bug reports, understand their needs for reproducing and fixing bugs, and assist in the verification process.
  • Verification and Regression Testing: Verify bug fixes to ensure they have been resolved, and conduct regression testing to make sure no new issues have arisen due to recent updates.
  • Improvement Suggestions: Begin contributing ideas to improve stability, usability, styling, and the overall quality of game modes, based on patterns observed during bug identification.
  • Collaboration with QA Team: Work alongside other QA specialists to ensure that updates provide a smooth multiplayer experience, sharing insights on gameplay and stability.

Month 4: Advanced QA and Process Optimization

  • Major Testing Projects: Take ownership of testing major game updates and perform in-depth testing on complex game mechanics to identify more subtle issues.
  • Advanced Issue Resolution: Collaborate more actively with the development team by helping prioritize critical bugs and providing feedback on game fixes that need further adjustments.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and help implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of bug reporting and tracking, including making documentation more effective for developers.
  • Mentoring and Documentation: Mentor newer QA team members on best practices for bug tracking and testing workflows. Assist in updating and refining documentation to streamline onboarding for new hires.
  • Holistic Testing Approach: Contribute to building a holistic approach to testing that includes both technical stability and player experience, focusing on consistency, quality, and enjoyment.
